The story is interesting cause it well i've thought about playing chess but in my own perspective I think its boring. But, the way they explain it on this text it seems competitive.
What about the main theme of the work? The author is telling about a mentor who kept him on track in his life. Add a few sentences about something/ someone in your life who keeps you on track towards your goals :)
